Two alleged elver poachers hit a DFO officer with their truck while attempting to flee on Saturday night.

According to DFO, its officers came upon the men in Hubbards and sought to inspect their truck as part of a crackdown on illegal elver harvesting.

“An individual obstructed fishery officers from conducting the inspection and struck the officers with their vehicle while fleeing to attempt to avoid arrest,” reads a written statement from DFO spokeswoman Lauren Sankey.
